CONTENT New Year Wishes The Forum featuring Jonathan Fisher, MD Brief Chat with Lillian Parker A Word |

As we prepare for the new year, it's a harried time in a merry season. Amid the wonders and the strife, take heed to keep your head.
Months ago, I urged readers to get away. That is, to carve out time for calming or re-setting your brain with meditation or a change in scenery. In advance of the season’s rush, I took that advice and got away. Seeking solitude, serenity, beauty and nature for rest and restoration, I struck out for the Canadian resort village, Whistler. The photo above was a view from my room. Whistler’s stunning wintry scenes, crisp mountain air, and quietness proved remedies for my mind, body and soul.
Natural beauty is all around us. A 10-hour transcontinental trip isn’t essential for finding peace and joy. Find your own room with a view, or better yet step outside wherever you are and breath in the wonder-filled outdoors. Replenish your spirit, seize your merry moment. |

What are you listening to, reading and/or watching lately?
Season 1 of Broadchurch (only 10 years after its debut), streaming on Amazon Prime. It’s a gripping whodunnit set in coastal England with music and cinematography worthy of the setting. |

What are you looking forward to over the holidays? Heading home to Alabama to visit my family and partner, then to New Orleans for a quick jaunt before the New Year. Special this year, a big bonfire out “in the country.”
Regardless of where we’ll be, I’m looking forward to spending time with my loved ones, resting and sharing delicious food together. Hope or intention for 2024? Slowing down and moving with intention! |
