On December 5, 2023, Mark Peres, Founder & Executive Director of The Charlotte Center for the Humanities and Civic Imagination, was the featured speaker at The Forum in Charlotte, NC. His talk was entitled 'Re-Humanizing Our World'. He addressed the forces of dehumanization, what is happening in the world today, why it is happening, and what can be done about it. His talk drew on philosophy, history, social science, and wisdom traditions, shining a light on a way forward.

Mark is a professor of leadership and ethics at Johnson & Wales University. He is the former host of the On Life and Meaning podcast and author of On Life and Meaning: 100 Essays Inspired by 100 Guests, a book about what matters most. He teaches courses on global ethics and leadership. He is the founder and former editor of Charlotte Viewpoint, a magazine about city life and culture. He is a graduate of The Florida State University College of Law, and of Rollins College, where he studied history and philosophy.
