THE FORUM
FEATURING DOUGLAS TAPPIN
SEPT 17, 2021 | 6PM | IN-PERSON EVENT
The Charlotte Center for the Humanities & Civic Imagination presents The Forum featuring Douglas Tappin, librettist, lyricist, and composer of I Dream, an award-winning musical-dramatic production honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In intimate conversation with Douglas Tappin, audience members will explore ‘dreaming in reality.’
The Charlotte Center is presenting this Forum event with Douglas Tappin in collaboration with Opera Carolina and in partnership with Charlotte SHOUT. The event will include a musical performance from I Dream, remarks from Tappin, audience interaction, and spoken word poetry in conjunction with Boom Charlotte. Tappin is a former Barrister born and educated in the United Kingdom. Tappin earned an additional postgraduate degree from Atlanta’s McAfee School of Theology.
The Forum is a conversation and speaker series that brings people and ideas together. The Forum has a three-part structure:
Audience members connect with each other prompted by a question;
Consider ideas presented by a speaker;
Discuss a community-facing question, igniting new possibilities and interactions.
