THE FORUM
FEATURING Mohamed Massaquoi
November 15, 2022 | 6:15PM | IN-PERSON EVENT
Please join us for the November 15, 2022 gathering of The Forum featuring Mohamed Massaquoi, Organizational Psychologist & Former NFL Player, On Resilience & High Performance.
Mohamed will share his remarkable story of being a high-performing NFL athlete, losing his hand in a near-death accident, and reimagining his life as an organizational psychologist helping people perform at their best. Mohamed will discuss talent, resilience, strategic pivoting, and relying on the team around you. We'll draw lessons from his story about the common good.
Mohamed is a strategic advisor on organizational change and team culture. In the spring of 2017, Mohamed's life changed following an ATV accident that resulted in the amputation of his left hand. The accident led Mohamed to reconsider his life and career. Mohamed had been a 2009 second-round pick for the Cleveland Browns in the NFL draft and played professionally for 5 seasons. Mohamed worked in finance at Morgan Stanley and then launched VESSOL, which helps organizations, leaders, and teams perform by improving team culture and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Mohamed earned his Bachelor's in Psychology and Master's in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the University of Georgia. While at the UGA, Mohamed was named the 2008 overall team captain of the football team, and selected as a first-team All-Southeastern Conference and Academic All-SEC player. He is a member of the 2018 UGA 40 under 40 class. Mohamed served on the University of Georgia alumni board from 2017 - 2020. Mohamed is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Program for Leadership Development, which functions as their alternative executive MBA.
Mohamed just received the University of Georgia Arch Award honoring UGA alumni who have achieved success in business and entrepreneurship.
Mohamed will be interviewed on stage by Becky Winkler, PhD., corporate psychologist and executive coach, and former Forum speaker.
Connect. Consider. Ignite. The program runs from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM including time for conversation, connections, and Q&A.
The Forum has a three-part structure:
• First third: Participants connect and build relationships in small break-out groups prompted by a question;
• Middle third: Participants consider a presentation that ends with the speaker posing a community-facing question;
• Final third: Participants discuss the question, igniting new ideas and interactions.
